Islamabad,
25 August 2011: Members of Ethics
Committee of Pakistan Peoples
Party today called on Co-Chairman
PPP President Asif Ali Zardari in
the presidency to discus issues
relating to the tasks assigned to
the committee.
The
Committee members who called on
the President included Mr.
Farhatullah Babar, convener, Ms.
Nafisa Shah, MNA, Ms. Mehreen
Anwar Raja, MNA, and Senator
Sardar Ali Khan. The Ethics
Committee comprises of seven
members. The other members include
Mr. Muhammad Sadiq Umrani,
Provincial Minister Balochistan,
Mr. Pervaiz Ashraf Chuadhary,
Chief Organizer PPP AJK and Rana
Aftab Ahmed from PPP Punjab.
The
Committee briefed the Co-Chairman
on investigations it had carried
out in cases of indiscipline and
unbecoming behavior that had been
referred to it for this purpose.
The
President asked the Committee to
bring to attention of the Party
leadership cases that needed to be
investigated and reported upon.
The
President said that a complete
record of the cases and the
findings should be made part of
the dossier of the persons
involved and submitted to the
Party leadership at the time of
taking important decisions like
award of Party tickets or
allocation of Party offices.
The
Ethics Committee has been tasked
to look into public complaints of
unethical behavior against the
Party MPs, intra-party complaints
and to carry out investigations
and submit recommendations to the
Party leadership.
It has
also been tasked to recommend
measures to the Party leadership
for improving transparency and
accountability.
