attack on peaceful citizens in the Melody Chowk of Islamabad Sunday evening
that resulted in the death of over a dozen people and maiming and injury
tomany more.
In a statement today the PPP Co-Chairman said that he was shocked over the
attack and the depth of degradation to which the perpetrators of such crimes
had sunk in the name of religion.
He said that the attack would only strengthen the resolve of the government
to confront the militants and extremists head on.
Mr. Asif Zardari also paid tributes to the courage of the police personnel
who died in the incident. "They died heroically so that the citizens could
live in peace".
He said that those who committed such heinous crimes in the name of religion
brought a bad name to religion and alienated the people from it.
