PPP Co-Chairman concerned over
attack on security check post in Mohmand Agency

Says such acts of wanton aggression
undermined war on terror
Islamabad June 12, 2008: Co-Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party Senator
Asif Ali Zardari has expressed grave concern over the air strike by
coalition forces on a security check post of the Frontier Corps along the
Pak-Afghan border in the Mohmand agency of the tribal areas.
At least ten paramilitary soldiers and another ten civilians were reportedly
killed in an air strike by US led forces in Mohmand tribal region on
Tuesday.
In a statement today the PPP Co-Chairman said that such acts of unprovoked
aggression could undermine the war on terror on the one hand and fuel
resentment among the people of Pakistan against the US on the other.
The air raid is a condemnable act and the people of Pakistan will not allow
violation of their self-respect and dignity and national honor, he said.
Mr. Asif Ali Zardari expressed the hope that such thoughtless acts of
aggression will not occur in the future.
The PPP Co-Chairman also prayed for those who lost their lives in the air
raid and expressed sympathies with the members of bereaved families over the
loss of their near and dear ones.
