APHC Delegation Calls on PPP
Co-Chairman

Two sides vow to strengthen relationship to
support Kashmiris struggle
Islamabad June 23, 2008: A delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference
led by Mir Waiz Umar Farooq today called on the Co-chairman Pakistan Peoples
Party Mr. Asif Ali Zardari in Zardari House in Islamabad.
Besides Mir Waiz Umar Farooq the APHC delegation comprised of Professor
Abdul Ghani Bhat, Mr. Bilal Ghani Lone, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Professor
Saraf and Yousuf Naseem.
The PP Co-Chairma was assisted by Jehangir Bader Secretary General of the
Party, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Qamar ZamanKaira, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed
President Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Kahsmir, Chaudhry Yasin
Secretary General PPP Azad Kashmir, Sardar Qamar Zaman opposition leader in
the Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Fauzia Habib MNA and Monsoor Shaikh Member
Foreign Liaison Committee of the Party.
The APHC delegation condoled with Mr. Asif Ali Zardari the assassination of
Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and termed it as a great loss not only for
Pakistan but also for the people of Kashmir and the entire Muslim World.
They also offered fateha for the soul of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. At
the instance of Asif Zardari fateha was also offered for the Kashmiri
martyrs.
Mir Waiz Umar Farooq paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir
Bhutto recalling her association with the OIC Contact Group and in giving
recognition to the APHC at the OIC summit in Casablanca in mid nineties.
The two sides discussed issues relating to the resolution of the Kashmir
Dispute. At the end of the meeting a joint declaration was also issued.
Recalling that relations between the APHC and the PPP were established by
Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto the joint declarations stated that this
relationship would not only be maintained but also further strengthened in
the years to come.
It said that both the PPP and APHC will take steps to promote people to
people contacts between the Kashmiri people living on both sides of the line
of control.
Initially visits of delegations of students, youth, lawyers, businessmen and
political leaders and parliamentarians will be arranged to promote greater
people to people contacts, the joint declaration said.
The joint declaration reaffirmed that APHC is the representative body of the
Kashmiris and reiterated their support to the people of Kashmir in their
struggle. It also stressed the need for holding joint consultations for
efforts aimed at finding a just solution of the Kashmir dispute.
