PPP Co-Chairman vows to
uphold Press Freedoms, expand frontiers

Islamabad May 2, 2008; Co-Chairman of the
Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Asif Ali Zardari has condoled the death of
peace activist and a senior member of Indian Parliament Nirmal Deshpande.
Nirmala Deshpande died in sleep in New Delhi on Thursday.
In a condolence message the PPP Co-chairman said that Nirmala Deshpande was
one of the most respected goodwill ambassadors whose pioneering work in
improving relations between the two countries would be long remembered.
All those who wish to see greater people to people contacts between the
peoples of the two countries for promoting peace and stability in the region
will remember her with affection and respect, he said.
Working for peace and harmony without causing harm to anyone Nirmala when
alive was at peace with herself and in peace she died, he said.
Senator Asif Zardari prayed that her soul may rest in peace and bereaved
members of the family be granted courage to bear the loss with fortitude.
