Sub: Probe into the allegations of Fake
Degrees submitted by Aamir Liaquat Ali, MNA before the returning office
Karachi
Dear Sir,
1. That Mr Aamir Liaquat Ali, MNA and Minister of
State of Religious Affairs had contested election 2002 from Constituency No.
NA-243 Karachi to the National Assembly of Pakistan and was declared elected.
2. That under section 8 (a) of the Conduct of
General Elections Order 2002 (Chief Executive Order No. 7 of 2002), a person was
qualified to contest the general elections who would possess a Bachelor's degree
or any degree recognized as equivalent by the University Grants Commission.
3. That Aamir Liaquat Ali submitted degrees of
Bachelor, Master and Doctorate ostensibly issued by Trinity College & University
(Spain) and the same were provisionally accepted by the Registrar University of
Karachi vide letter dated 24-8-2002.
4. That Urdu daily "Ummat" of Karachi revealed that
Mr Aamir Liaquat Ali MNA had allegedly purchased fake degrees to contest general
elections 2002. That the allegation against Aaamir requires investigation and
probe as why he submitted fake degrees to the returning officer if at all he
possess MBBS degree from Jamshoro University. Press clippings from the following
newspapers are enclosed for ready reference:

5. That submitting or tendering a document knowingly
to be a forged document amounts to a criminal act and is punishable under the
law of the land.
It is therefore respectfully submitted that the
matter may be investigated and the Reference be sent to the accountability court
to proceed under the law.
